Mission 10 Update

January & February 2026

Message from Pastor Kristian

Welcome to our bimonthly Mission 10 Update. These updates will feature upcoming missions opportunities, trip deadlines, follow up reports from completed trips, and the opportunity to learn more about the missionaries we support as a church.

This year, we are focusing on the Asia Pacific region - we have a unique opportunity to visit a historic Biblical location and new country to CLA – Macedonia. We encourage you to read more about this special opportunity under the Global section.

We are excited about the doors God has opened for us with some amazing missions trips scheduled for 2026. The more testimonies we hear, the more we realize these trips are life-changing, and we want EVERYONE to go! Here are a few upcoming trip deadline reminders.

Save the dates for these Sundays - March 15, April 12 and May 17. Dinners are held at 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Christian Life Center (by donation). Check out additional details and the March menu here. Thank you for your support!

Local Missions

Reaching the Next Generation

During the Toy Share Experience planning process for 2025, our team felt led to be intentional about reaching local teens to help them feel the love of Jesus.

Arrangements were made to have a Hawaiian-themed Christmas celebration at The Link4Youth in New Cumberland, one of our local partners. Approximately 10 volunteers (including students from CLA) had a great time engaging with more than 50 youth through fun activities…such as dodge ball, other games and manicures. Also, Robert Williams spoke; he is part of our church family and has a powerful story to share.

Each student was also given a Christmas gift, a piece of sports equipment, a gift for a loved one, and a bag of food with recipes to take home. At the end of the event, everyone sat down to enjoy a meal together. One of the students was so blessed by the meal that they wished their family could enjoy it with them. Well, God provided! He multiplied the food, and the students were able to take “to go” boxes home with them!

Our time with the students was short, but the ministry that happened with them and The Link4Youth team will be long-lasting. Please pray for this important and ongoing ministry that is purposefully reaching the next generation for Jesus.

CLA Serve Days

CLA Serve Days are a once-a-month opportunity to serve others in our local community. These days will be held between March and October on the fourth Saturday of the month. They will include opportunities for a variety of gifts and talents.

Our first two opportunities will be to serve at the Bongiorno Conference Center in Carlisle on Saturday, March 28 and at Wildheart Ministries in Harrisburg on Saturday, April 25. Check out more details and links to register at CLA.CHURCH/missions.

Domestic Missions

STEPping Into Community | Philly Dream Center – Philadelphia, PA

CLA’s Moms Group has purposefully decided to STEP into authentic community inside and outside of the group based on the many “one another” Scriptures found in the Bible:

  • Serve one another (Galatians 5:13)
  • Teach one another (Colossians 3:16)
  • Encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
  • Pray for one another (James 5:16)

In October 2025, six moms decided to put this concept into practice and traveled to the Philadelphia Dream Center. They served through preplanning, purchasing ingredients, and prepping and cooking meals for two single moms who were experiencing challenging times. With the recipes provided, these affordable meals could easily be replicated and frozen to go beyond the present and continue helping into the future.

Following the meal preparation, the Moms Group organized hygiene bags and went to serve in Kensington Park. This park is notorious for open drug use and homelessness. The moms broke into small groups and walked through the park with a leader from the Dream Center. They encouraged and prayed with many individuals, sharing tangible items to help provide for life’s basic needs.

There were so many personal experiences, but one that really stood out was a man who had just gotten out of prison the day before. He shared how he was glad that people were helping his community and sharing Jesus. He said he “knew his fate, and there was no hope for him, but he is glad it doesn’t have to be that way for everyone.”

These moms spent additional time talking with and teaching him about the hope he has in Jesus. Only the Lord knows the rest of his story, but we know that He won’t quit for him! Jesus will continue to pursue His children, and He wants to use you to do it. Are you willing to STEP out?

Receive the Blessing | Chuck and Wilma Lormis

Missions cultivators, Chuck and Wilma Lormis, have a vision to reach the lost by coming alongside pastors and churches to encourage and assist them in extending their reach - locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. They provide expertise in helping the local church design customized plans and help them strategize their next steps in fulfilling the Great Commission.

And sometimes, they just bless! Chuck and Wilma contact CLA regularly. One day in particular, they spoke with Pastor Kristian and asked how things were going; they prayed with and encouraged him. The simple act of reaching out and encouraging changed the day.

Sometimes we have the chance to be a blessing, but isn’t it awesome when we get a chance to receive the blessing? Are you ready to receive?

Global Missions

A Mountain of Hope | Kilimanjaro Climb, Tanzania

“Hiking and backpacking have always been a passion for me. At first, I was hesitant to go because I have done higher altitude hikes before and know that my body does not respond well to higher altitudes.

God changed my perspective and I focused on the journey instead of the destination of reaching the summit. My focus became an opportunity to grow closer to God, and the missions team, as I pushed through the challenges of a higher altitude climb.

Once I made the shift to a focus on the journey, I became excited about what God was going to do. I felt compelled to go, not wanting to miss out on what God had in store for me. I was ready to grow closer to God and open to any other changes he wanted to accomplish in my heart through the trip.

During day 5, which was summit day, I was physically exhausted and was having trouble breathing. I was in “my head” questioning why I was doing the hike and convinced that I could not go forward. I started praying and repeating scripture and could feel God giving me strength. One scripture that came to mind was Romans 5:3 which tells us that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance, character; and character, hope.

I got out of “my head” and got “in Christ.” This was repeated for me throughout the summit climb. It is a tool that I know I can turn to in my next life challenge and because of it my hope capacity has been increased.” – Dwayne Weaver
“The adventure missions trip was appealing because I enjoy the outdoors and typically feel God’s presence there more than anywhere else. I was seeking to draw closer to Him and also see firsthand the impact CLA was making by contributing to the projects run by World Serve.

I wanted to push myself to my physical and mental limits on the climb and be reminded that it is not by the flesh that we can accomplish things but instead by trusting in and looking to God for our strength. With Him, all things are possible, and I believed for many weeks that I would be on the summit if I trusted in Him.

While on the trip, I had been battling stomach pains and nausea for two days and, by the fourth day, I felt the worst I had all week. We had a long day ahead of us, starting with climbing the 1,000 ft Barranco Wall. I was miserable at breakfast, and everyone could tell I was not myself. As I sat there with my head in my hands, I felt a hand rest on my left shoulder, and a team member began to pray over me for healing. After the prayer, I took some anti-nausea medication and exited the tent. I went to our gear pile and bent down to pick up my pack and, when I stood up, all of my stomach pain and discomfort was completely gone.

Another team member was next to me and witnessed the immediate relief. I said, “Let’s do this,” and I’ll never forget the expression on his face, as I was clearly a new person. A doctor on our team came over and asked me how I felt better so quickly and if it was the medication. I replied that I literally just took the meds before leaving the tent; he knew they don’t work that quickly. I explained it was the power of God through prayer.

This trip was life-changing. I was humbled by the mountain and God’s creation. I was also amazed at the people’s faith that we encountered there. They have considerably less than we do in the United States, and yet their faith seemed so much stronger. I now realize our comfort and amenities sometimes make us complacent in our faith.

Later, I had an encounter with a shopkeeper after the climb who saw a shirt that one of our team members was wearing that said, "Called to serve." She asked me if I was with the group wearing those shirts and said, “Who do you serve?”

Her question caught me by surprise to be honest. Without even thinking, I told her that we serve Jesus Christ and we were serving the people of Tanzania and Kenya for this trip as we were raising awareness and money to place water wells in east Africa. She became emotional and put her hand over her heart and said, “You really do this for us?” I replied yes and she replied in Swahili “asante sana” which means thank you very much.

This brief conversation and her question, “Who do you serve?” has stuck with me more than anything else I experienced on the trip. Who do we serve? What a poignant reminder that stemmed from a random encounter with a stranger. We never know how God will use us or the situations we are in to glorify Him and His kingdom.” – Eric Lamprey

And the Walls Came Tumbling… Up?
Skopje, Macedonia – September 2026 (Deadline June 1)

This year provides a unique opportunity for CLA to serve with a missionary partner while advancing the Kingdom in the historic Biblical location of Macedonia.

A long-time missionary partner, Sherry Sabella, shared how great the need is for Jesus in the Balkans and the opportunity for CLA to come help finish building a church that stalled during COVID. Why? Because the church is growing rapidly, and they have outgrown their current facility.

This growth would not have happened without the extraordinary efforts of missionary Tim Bentley, who is doing a great job building a bridge with the National Church.

This project is CLA’s major global project for the year, and we invite you to:

  • Pray for the Roma people, the missionaries and for the many people who are ready to hear about and say yes to Jesus.
  • Give to Mission 10 in order to help fund the church building construction project at CLA.CHURCH/give.
  • Go by signing up at CLA.CHURCH/missions. We need many team members with varying degrees of construction skills. If God is nudging you to go, please reach out. Feel free to ask questions so we can help complete the construction on His church.

Prayer Requests

Will you join us in prayer?

  • CLA | All Campuses – Pray with excitement, expectation and obedience as we enter into the greatest evangelism effort in our local, domestic and global reach and for the floodgates to open so that many discover the incredible life they can have with Jesus.
