Mission 10 Update

July & August 2025

Message from Pastor Kristian

Commissioned25 has become one of our most-anticipated annual events to celebrate all things missions! This missions emphasis week will involve two Sundays (October 5 and 12), a mid-week bilingual service, a beautiful flag parade representing the countries and missionaries we support, a rollout of our 2026 trips, prayer elements and more.

Please be praying now for many doors to be opened as we look ahead to missions next year, as well as be praying for the various missionaries we support. Be on the lookout in the near future for lots of opportunities to serve!

During Commissioned25, you will have the opportunity to check out our 2026 global and domestic trips. You will also be able to pick up our 2026 Commissioned brochure. Trip dates and registration links will be made live on our Missions page as logistics are finalized for each trip.

We are all called, and everyone who chooses to go is changed. Will you GO in 2026? There is an opportunity for you!

Local Missions

Jubilee Day | Making Connections & Having Fun
Jubilee Day on June 19 in Mechanicsburg, PA was a success! Hundreds of families visited our kids’ activities booth and Petting Zoo, had a meaningful experience, and received information about how to connect individually or as a family if they didn’t already have a home church. This is one of our favorite local events of the year!

Greenlight Operation | Finishing Touches
We had a great Mission 10 Work Day at Greenlight Operation on July 26. This is a facility in the Harrisburg area that will be housing and rehabilitating women who have been rescued from sex trafficking. A beautiful old mansion has been renovated over the last several years, and our CLA teams have been heavily involved in that process. This facility is about to open its doors and begin receiving residents, and we were the last team scheduled to help with some final touches both inside and outside. Thank you to everyone who served so well!

Backpack Drive | Starting the New School Year Right
Thank you to everyone who contributed back-to-school supplies and backpacks for our annual Summer Backpack Drive. Families who attended Mega Summer Camp, as well as various individuals who are part of our church family, contributed. You donated 62 filled backpacks, 31 unfilled backpacks and six large cases of supplies for students in need in the West Shore School District. Thank you for helping many students start the new school year off right!

Domestic Missions

Eye Opening | Philadelphia Dream Center – Philadelphia, PA

It is amazing to realize the impact of a simple smile and looking someone in the eye, acknowledging they exist and that they are loved. Since 2023, CLA has been in partnership with the Philadelphia Dream Center and, since then, 114 people have gone to Philadelphia to serve those who are hurting and show them this simple act of love.

We hope you will be blessed by a few of the stories from the one-day trip in May and the student missions trip (middle school students) that took place in June.

“This trip was my fourth visit to the Philadelphia Dream Center. God has put this ministry on my heart in a big way. The vision of the leaders and staff is inspiring to me, and I seek to be a vessel every time the opportunity is presented. I love the fact the trips are diverse – involving outreach, evangelism, construction, and children’s ministry. I was also inspired to see my daughters minister to those on the streets and encourage them. It was a wonderful experience to share as a family.”
– Christina Miller (May One-Day Missions Trip)

“This was our first missions trip ever. I felt compelled to go as soon as I first heard about the Dream Center. I was born at the Kensington Hospital and lived in the Kensington area for three years before my dad moved us to Bucks County. When Pastors Shane and Kristian mentioned about a trip in May 2025, I spoke to my wife, Marsha, about going. She was in favor, and we took God's lead. We prayed and felt that we were being led to go.

Marsha and I had the chance to talk with a few of the individuals on the street. One young man, named Josh, was living in McPherson Park, just off Kensington Avenue. He opened up to us right away and shared that he arrived in Kensington just four days before our visit. His wife and child had been killed by a drunk driver, and he had turned back to drug usage. We prayed with him and encouraged him to visit the Dream Center. God was at work for sure!

During our time there, we learned that God equips us to do His work, whether it is cleaning up debris and needles, praying for the homeless and drug addicted, or sharing life with those living at the Dream Center.”

“We were briefed on what to expect on the streets and in the park. However, seeing it was a real eye opener. God allowed me to take in everything I saw but not be impacted in a negative way. Instead, I hope to go back. There were two individuals who I think about and pray for every day, along with the work they are doing at the Dream Center.

I have gained much more knowledge about addictions and how hard their struggle is. I better understand what it means to someone to see them, acknowledge them, talk to them and share with them. Since the trip, I have had time to pause and reflect on my own life and realize how thankful I am that I grew up a Christian knowing Jesus.”

– Joyce Willson (May One-Day Missions Trip)

“ABSOLUTELY GO!! Going on a missions trip not only broadens your worldview of others, and the struggles people face, but it allows you to see and hear the impact of different decisions and life choices. Stepping out of your comfort zone strengthens your reliance on Jesus. I know I have grown, and I got to see a lot of the kids become stronger in their faith and confidence. When you go as a team, it really helps you appreciate your team members for who they are, and the gifts God instilled in them. On another note, don't let money be a hindrance for you choosing to go. If you're meant to go, God will make a way for you to go.”
– Joyce Harris (June Student Ministries Leader)

“What compelled me to go on the missions trip was to be a part of helping a community and getting people closer to Jesus. I was nervous and scared of what I was walking into, but excited to see what God was going to do in my life. I hoped that I would become closer to God. GO ON A MISSIONS TRIP. It will change your life for the good. I know I have become a better person through this missions trip experience.”
– Chloe Ackroyd (June Student Missions Team Member)

You Never Know | Navajo Nation – Kayenta, AZ

You never know who is going to sign up for a missions trip, but it is amazing how God builds the exact right team for each trip. In May, a team of 11 people went to serve the Diné (Navajo people) in Kayenta. Each person had been called by God to go, and they were obedient to His voice.

With a mixture of general cleaning, painting, construction, food prep and children’s ministry, there was something for everyone. The spiritual battle was evident with many unusual situations, including a lightning strike, transportation issues, flight delays, a tire issue, unexpected storms, internet outages and more, but God is victorious and was glorified in every situation. The team adapted and came together through prayer, and they used their strengths and talents to overcome each obstacle…solving one problem at a time.

By the end of the week, some of our veterans had an opportunity to share their testimonies, a basketball court was poured and left curing waiting for its first game, and the internet was restored in time for Vacation Bible School (VBS), where approximately 50 children, teens and adults attended the three-day VBS focusing on God’s promises!

Glacier Bible Camp | Montana

A last-minute opportunity arose for a small group of people to complete some much-needed repairs at Glacier Bible Camp in Montana before the summer camp season began. This district campground provides a place for students to come hear the Gospel message and experience life change as they say “yes” to Jesus. This campground also provides life change for adults.

One of our team members, Cubby Myers, shared his experience:

“God’s presence was overwhelming for me, unlike I have ever experienced in my life. Praying and looking up into the great trees, hearing the wind blowing though their branches, I felt God whispering to me. His voice was clear as day to me. You see, for the past 23 years I have felt I was where I am to be and using my God-given gifts in support of the CLA dramas.

Then Pastor Shane spoke on finding and serving your purpose. During the message I was confident, as the enemy would want me to be, that I was doing good and serving as Pastor Shane mentioned. Boy was I wrong. The first day at Glacier Bible Camp, God smacked me in the heart, and I clearly felt and heard Jesus say, ‘This is what I have been preparing you for, and the time is now, there is much to do, and you are not done yet.’

My life was changed as a result of this trip. Every trip I’ve taken has been full of activities, running around, doing this, doing that, squeezing as much into a day as I possibly could, with little time for God. This trip was truly special because I had quiet time, and Pastor Matt gave us a devotional on waiting, which honestly was one of the best things I’ve ever heard, because I didn’t know how to do it. Being at the camp and taking deliberate quiet time, sitting under the trees and praying, hearing the wind through the branches, like God’s whispering voice, made all the difference.

This trip made me realize that asking or praying for something is just half of the equation, because if I’m not still and quiet, I’m going to miss God‘s message, because the Word says that God doesn’t typically speak to you in a thundering voice but many times it’s the whisper of the Holy Spirit. When we fill our lives with busyness and don’t make time for that quiet time, we’re likely to miss what God has for us.

This is why I’ve been so brokenhearted since the trip, realizing how much I’ve missed over the years because I was busy and didn’t allow for this quiet time, but God made it clear to me that He’s not done with me and He has more for me, and He’s been preparing me for this. I am so thankful to God for forgiving me and loving me, and I look forward to everything He has for me in the future. I just want to be obedient that I may hear Him and do what He commands. I want my words and actions to be in check with His.”

Check out what attending a recent missions trip means to several members of our CLA family. God is so good and moving in such a powerful way!

Northern Asia
“I’m a teacher and I was surprised that I was able to participate in a trip that was so soon. I was nervous that I would like it too much (and I did) and I was nervous about the cost of the trip, but God showed me He was going to provide, and He did.

Since the trip, I have wondered, ‘Why have I been so wrapped up in other things? Why have I not made this my focus?’ I saw a lot of ‘emptiness’ that others have, and it opened my eyes. I have been lazy with my faith, and I have been reminded that I need to be more intentional about building relationships and telling people about Jesus.”

Spain
“You will never regret going on a missions trip. I got involved with International Media Ministries on a trip last year. The Esther Project was one that really spoke to my heart. The people of Iran and their struggles and the faith of the underground church just called out to me to help where I could.

A special God moment was when I was praying with Persian Christians in a prayer time that was Spirit-filled. They were praying not only for the Esther Project, but also their families and friends still in Iran under the rule of the regime that they escaped. That is prayer and a cause that I wasn’t experienced with.

You will never regret going on a missions trip. God will use you and lead you. The things you see, feel, and learn will be life-changing, and you will be helping the Kingdom!”

“Best week ever! Our trip to El Salvador included miracles, answered prayers, salvations, and life-changing encounters. We laughed so hard we cried and cried so hard we laughed. I am so thankful for these students and other leaders! I wish it never had to end.”
